Are you looking to buy a home? What should you be on the lookout for? Here\u2019s a checklist to keep in mind when you\u2019re at a home showing.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Roof:<\/strong> While outside, take a step back and check the roof for shingle damage and sagging gutters.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Grade:<\/strong> Examine the condition of the land that surrounds the home. As you approach the house, look to see if the grade slopes away from it. Poor drainage might be indicated by any ponding or slope toward the home.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Water system:<\/strong> Running the faucets to verify whether there is good water pressure is a quick and easy way to check for plumbing<\/a> concerns. While the faucets are on, inspect under the sinks for\u00a0previous water damage or\u00a0any leaks. Check walls and ceilings for discoloration that might be caused by leaks, to avoid costly repairs.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Electrical system:<\/strong> A simple test of a home\u2019s electrical wiring can be done by turning on some of the lights and running some of the appliances. Any flashing might suggest a problem with the wiring or the electrical service.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Pests:<\/strong> Include a visual inspection of hidden areas, such as basements and attics, as these can be home to unwanted pests and insects.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Structural state:<\/strong> Check for floor and wall cracks, as well as out-of-square door frames, to see whether structural repairs may be needed.<\/p>\n
